Statistics originally means description of a country. It is a discipline that collects, analyzes and presents data in an understandable way. Data can be collected either from the whole population, called census, or it can be collected from a small fraction of the population, called sample. Data can be analyzed in many ways like mean, median, variance, kurtosis, distribution, etc. These analyses can be presented either numerically or graphically.
